Acura 2.2 CL and Acura 2.5TL

The Acura is a brand of Honda and Acura CL is a model manufactured by Honda Acura.

Acura CL was in production form 1997-1999 and then again started its production form 2001 and last till 2003.

Acura CL was the first CL to be manufactured in the US.

The 2.2 CL is just a coupe version of Honda Accord, with little minor changes in the interiors. Most of the parts used in the coupe of Accord are kept same for Acura 2.2 CL.

The vehicle was overall handsomely styled.

For power this vehicle relied on 2.2 liter in line 4 that produced 145 hp and that was 15 hp more than what Accord use to produce. And the engine was VTEC engine which was just a buzz in the late 1990’s. The Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Lift Control is a system that keeps a look on the engines intake and exhaust valves.  This system enables engine to become more efficient and more powerful. In spite of this 2.2CL was low on acceleration.

Acura CL also came with an optional 3.0 liter V-6 that generated 190 hp. This engine option was introduced to overcome the 2.2CL’s lack of power.

The car did not meet the quality standard form the inside in spite Acura was known for maintaining highest industry standards.

Acura cars also gave generous spacing in the front and the back and so did Acura2.2CL.

In spite of being a compact car, none of its users had to complain about the space inside.

2.2CL wasn’t the high performer nor did give a tires screeching ride but the ride was worth considering while looking budget import.

The Acura Car is a mid sized car and is also a luxury car offered by Honda Acura brand. Its first model was debuted in the year 1995 and was a replacement to Acura Vigor. The TL has also bagged the title of the best selling model for Acura and second to BMW3 series in the best selling luxury sedan in the United States.

Till date four generations of TL has been produced. The first generation was the 1996 2.5TL. The TL stands for Touring Luxury. TL got its engine form, Vigor, its predecessor with 2.5 liter 20 valve 5 cylinder that generated 176 hp.

Acura 2.5TL was a mid sized entry level luxury sedan and was positioned to compete with most of the entry level luxury sedans.

Acura TL was powered by two engine options. The TL 2.5 was using 2.5 liter in line5 for power source and 3.2 TL was dependent on 3.2 liter V6.

The 2.5 TL with its inline 5 produced 175 hp and a torque of 170 lb ft. and had fuel injection system, a 2 stage intake manifold, camshaft operating 4 valves per cylinder.

The Acura 2.5 TL was loaded with all the premium features that brought the feeling of value for money. Standard equipments includes features like power control system, leather covered steering wheel with cruise control and wooden dashboard. The car also came with 8 speaker complete surround sound system.

2.5 TL met all the safety standards laid by the law at that point of time. It had dual front airbags, all wheel anti lock disk brakes and more.

Taking the Acura 2.5 TL for a ride was a pleasant experience. The ride was smooth as its 5 cylinder engine had electronically controlled engine mounts.

Overall it was a very well designed package.
